Introduction |
|
In pursuance of the notification of the UGC. F.No.20-1/2009 (IUC), its Action Plan for performance evaluation, assessment and accreditation and quality up-gradation of institutions of higher education, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was established in Patna University on March 23, 2018 by the order of the then Honorable Vice Chancellor, Patna University. The IQAC committee is constituted with the Director, IQAC as the member secretary following the guidelines of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore. The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the overall performance of institution. The establishment of the IQAC is the first step towards institutionalization and internalization of quality enhancement initiatives. Its success depends on its sense of belongingness and participation in all the activities of the institution. It is not yet another hierarchical structure or a record-keeping unit of the institution but, is a facilitative and participative unit of the institution. The IQAC will make a significant and meaningful contribution in the post-accreditation phase of institutions.

- To arrange for periodic assessment and accreditation of the Patna University for specific academic programmes or projects.
- To stimulate the academic environment for promotion of quality of teaching-learning and research in the Patna University.
- To encourage self-evaluation, accountability, autonomy and innovations in the Patna University.
- To undertake quality-related research studies, consultancy and training programmes, collaborate with other stakeholders of higher education for quality evaluation, promotion and sustenance.

Functions |
- Development and application of quality benchmarks/ parameters for the various academic and administrative activities of the University.
- Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process.
- Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes
- Dissemination of information on the various quality parameters of higher education.
- Documentation of the various programmes/activities leading to quality improvement.
- Acting as a nodal agency of the institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of the best practices.
- Development and maintenance of institutional database through MIS for the purpose of maintaining /enhancing the institutional quality.
- Development of Quality Culture in the University.
- Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC, to be submitted to NAAC
